Information for Fall 2006
Notes from old classes:
Homework
- Homework 1 - Due September 14 - 5pm : Chapter 1, problems 3-6
- Homework 5 - Due October 19 - 5pm
- Chapter 7, problems 1-3
- Assume the source function is represented as an infinite sum
of sum (a_i t^2) where i = 0 to infinity. What is there resulting
intensity for this source function?
- Derive Equations 7.16 and 7.17
- Using a linear source function (S = a + b*tau) with a=1 and b=2,
calculate the net flux in a stellar atmosphere at tau= 0, 2/3, and 20.
This probably will involve numerical integration.
- Sample Midterm from 2005
